The damage mechanism of most refractory materials which contact glass liquid is liquid phase corrosion, and it is dominated by diffusion / permeability. So there is high requirement to refractory bricks which are contacted glass liquid directly in melting pool.

 

The liquid temperature of soda lime glass is as high as 1500℃, except for soda lime glass, the temperature of other glass liquid maybe higher or lower which depends on the requirements of glass viscosity characteristics and the glass composition. As to all the parts that contact glass liquid, the most important property of refractory brick is the ability of corrosion resistance. The interface stability of refractory materials and the tendency of producing stone are almost equally important, and the interface stability refers to part of the efractory material is in the erosion state, but the surface of the refractory material is complete and does not fall off and causes the glass to produce defect.
