A glass furnace is a thermal device for melting glass composed of molten zirconium corundum bricks.
Description of the use of molten zirconium corundum bricks for glass:

5. High-quality molten zirconia corundum bricks are used for consumable parts, and other parts are made of general materials to achieve reasonable matching and kiln age synchronization.
Due to the different mechanical, physical and chemical conditions of the various parts of the glass melting furnace, they themselves need to adjust the role of the zirconium corundum bricks in the glass melting furnace to ensure a long service life of the melting furnace. At the same time, it is required to produce helium on adjacent bricks of other varieties. Others should consider the reference of molten zirconium corundum bricks and should consider selecting styrofoam bricks that are inexpensive and can be supplied by warehouses on a common standard scale.

The reason why the fused zirconia corundum brick is better than the fused mullite brick against the glass liquid corrosion performance. The fused zirconium corundum brick has better corrosion resistance against molten glass than the fused mullite brick, and the main reason is as follows.
1. The main crystal phase in the zirconium corundum brick is a tightly coexisting corundum and oblique zircon, and the two crystal phases have good corrosion resistance.
2. The glass phase of the zirconium corundum brick is filled between the crystal phases, and the glass phase is eroded by the high temperature molten glass to form a very high viscosity albite glass, which has a higher viscosity due to melting a certain amount of ZrO2. This layer of high-viscosity glass remains on the surface of the fused brick and is not easily diffused, thus protecting the brick.
The erosion resistance of fused zirconia corundum bricks increases with the increase of ZrO2 content. Because ZrO2 has a melting temperature of up to about 2700 ° C, and has a high resistance to acids, alkalis and glass liquids.
Due to the above advantages, the fused zirconia corundum brick is not only used for the contact with the molten glass with high temperature and high corrosion, but also widely used in the upper structure of the glass melting furnace.
