ZrO2 is the main oxide of zirconium, and it is a white crystalline which is difficult to dissolve in water, hydrochloric acid and dilute sulfuric acid. ZrO2 is an important material of refractory with the characteristics of high melting point, high resistance coefficient, high refractive index and low thermal expansion coefficient.
Industry used refractory is stable ZrO2 which is made by electric melting method. Add carbon and stabilizer of calcium oxide during the electric melting process of zircon, in addition to silicon, zirconium oxide and calcium oxide form to solid solution, then through crushing and whole grain processing, stable ZrO2 is made.
ZrO2 fiber is a kind of amorphous refractory fiber material. Duo to the high melting point and other high temperature properties, which makes ZrO2 fiber have higher using temperature than alumina fiber, mullite fiber, aluminum silicate fiber and other refractory fiber. ZrO2 fiber can be long-term used in high temperature which may over 1500 ℃, and the maximum using temperature of ZrO2 fiber is up to 2200 ℃, even keep completed shape when temperature reach to 2500 ℃. So ZrO2 fiber is one of the world's top refractory fiber materials with the properties of stable chemical performance, anti-corrosion, antioxidant, anti heat shock, non volatile and no pollution
