Introduction Of Mullite Brick For Glass Furnace Use

Mullite brick is a new type refractory material of high efficient energy saving which can contact flame directly. Mullite brick is also a high alumina refractory material with mullite as the main crystalline phase, and the content of alumina is generally between 65% and 75%. As to chemical composition, except for mullite, glass phase and square quartz is contained if the content of alumina is low; corundum is contained if the content of alumina is high.

 

Sintered mullite brick is manufactured with raw material of high bauxite clinker, adding a small amount of clay or bauxite as binder, then through solidification and sintering. The high temperature property of mullite brick depends on the content of alumina and the evenness of mullite phase and glass distribution.

 

With the chemical composition and special manufacture method, mullite brick has many excellent features such as dense structure, high refractoriness which can reach to 1790℃, refractoriness under load is between 1600℃ and 1700℃, cold crushing strength is between 70MPa and 260MPa, low permanent linear change on reheating and good thermal shock stability.

 

Mullite bricks are mainly applied to roof of hot air furnace, body and bottom of blast furnace, regenerator of glass furnace, sintering kiln, Sulfuric cracking furnace and Fibrous glass furnace.
