How Do Impurities Affect The Quality Of Mullite Bricks
Impurities can affect the quality and properties of mullite bricks, so it is important to ensure the purity of raw materials.

Iron oxides such as Fe2O3 and FeO can penetrate into the mullite solid solution. Although they have little effect on the melting point of mullite bricks, they can color the glass phase, increase the amount of glass phase and reduce the refractoriness.
Excessive alkali metal oxides can reduce the mullite content and even damage the mullite phase and solution. Exceesive glass phase can affect the properties of mullite bricks.
CaO can slow the crystallization of mullite. altough it has little effect, it still needs attention.
MgO can produce impurities in the crystals and reduce the mullite content.
